We understand that arranging a funeral on a limited income can feel overwhelming. If funds are low, or there's no estate available to cover costs, you may be eligible for help through the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP)
What you may be entitled to
If close relatives are on certain benefits and there's no estate to cover expenses, you could quality for a Funeral Expenses Payment.
Please note that the payment will not usually cover all of the costs of the funeral.
- You can call the Bereavement Service helpline on 0800 151 2012 and they'll help you with your claim. They'll also give you an idea of how much you might receive.
- To apply by post, download and fill in the claim form SF200 here and send it to the address on the form.
